How to Block Specific or listed unwanted Websites Mozilla Firefox? Children Safety

Guide to block websites in Mozilla Firefox that you do not want to be displayed when running Firefox internet browser. There are two ways you can do, all depending on your user experience and time. One is by installing extension or add on which helps you to block certain websites you wish.

A. Download and install BlockSite 0.7.1 extension for Firefox to block websites you desire. These sites including scam, phishing, sexually-disturbing, hate sites and adult. However this extension can be easily removed or the blocked sites list can be edited by average to advance Internet users.

B. The second way is the best method yet very easy to block websites in Firefox or any other browsers like Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Opera and Internet Explorer that installed in a PC. You can use a file named hosts located in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC folder if you are using Windows XP or Vista. If you are using Windows 2000, you can accessed it from C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC and if your computer runs on Windows 98 or Me it is located at C:\WINDOWS. If you not really understand, below is an example to block websites in a PC runs on Microsoft Windows Vista or XP:

1. Go to My Computer and then double click on Local Disk (C:) or known as drive C. Select the WINDOWS folder and then choose system32. Double click on drivers and select etc folder.

2. Open a file named hosts with Notepad program. Below is how it looks like in Notepad:

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

3. Just right below the 127.0.0.1 localhost you can block websites in Firefox or any other browsers by typing 127.0.0.1 and URL of the websites you want to block, for example 127.0.0.1 www.myspace.com and save the file. For instance

127.0.0.1 localhost

127.0.0.1 www.myspace.com

4. Every time a user try to open Myspace, the internet browser will show this message:

Failed to Connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.myspace.com
